Novelist: find your next read

Text reads: Where do I start?, superimposed over many shelves of books.

Ready for your next read, but you’ve browsed through all the suggested reading lists and you still haven’t found just the right book?

About Novelist

Take your reading search to the next level with NoveList Plus, an easy-to-use database with reading suggestions from librarians. You can use it to search for new titles and the results will match your preferences.

If the library is closed, you can still get book recs from NoveList Plus! It’s available 24/7, and then you can search the library catalogues or find out if it’s available through interlibrary loans. If it’s a new title, you can always suggest it as a purchase too!

Getting Started

  • Sign in to Novelist with your library card.
  • Use the search box right at the top of the page: enter a keyword, title or author you already know you like–and get suggestions that are read-alikes!
  • For the easiest search, try the Recommended Reads Lists. They’re located on the left side of the homepage and span all genres and age levels.
  • Browse pre-made appeal combinations on the NoveList Plus homepage under “I’m in the mood for books that are…”. Or create your own special mix using the appeal mixer located beneath the suggested combinations. Plug in your preferences and get instant reading recommendations. It’s actually a lot of fun to use!
  • Have a preference for certain genres? Zero in on titles from your favorite genres or explore new ones with our genre browser, located under the appeal mixer.
